<ul>Laksha (lacquer) work is a unique Sri Lankan craftsman skill work that produces powder bowls, vases, walking sticks, jewellery boxes, etc. Pallehapuwita village in Matale is famous for Laksha work. Lac is a form of wax obtained from a species of insect. This wax is mixed with colours and applied to wooden objects with the help of a hand-driven lathe.
