Decsription

<p>Galle lighthouse was first built in 1848 however it was destroyed by a fire in 1936. The present lighthouse was built in 1939. </p>

Even today the colonial-era buildings inside the fort, function as villas, antique shops, cafes, and restaurants without changing their old fashion.</li><li>Galle lighthouse the oldest in Sri Lanka was built in 1848 located in the Galle Fort area. However, the present lighthouse was erected in 1939 due to the old one was destroyed by fire in 1934. </li><li>Then visit the Old Nupe Market, Star Fort at Matara, Matara Fort, and Dondra Lighthouse. </li><li>The Old Nupe Market (Old Dutch Market) building was used for the market in Nupe. The present building was built in the late eighteenth century but was first built probably by the Dutch.</li><li>Matara Fort was originally built by the Portuguese in 1560 and re-built by the Dutch in 1640.</li><li>The Star Fort, Matara was built by the Dutch in 1765.</li><li>Dondra Lighthouse is located at the southernmost point of the country.
