DAY - 2 (Chilaw – Mannar) |

Approximately 3 and half hours’ drive if you drive directly.</li><li>En-route visit Tantirimale Cave Temple, Madu church, Doric Bungalow in Arippu, and Mannar fort. Thanthirimale is an ancient Buddhist monastery sprawling extensive boulders spreading over a huge area in the midst of thick forest which gives a panoramic view. The caves at Thanthirimale had been inhabited by the Megalithic man in Sri Lanka where Paleolithic cave paintings and some primitive drawings done by Veddah people were discovered. </li><li>Mary’s Church at Madhu located 50 km south-east of Mannar was started built in 1876, home to the statue of Our Lady of Madhu. The remote village of Madhu has been also sacred to Buddhists and Hindus due to the Pattini Devale shrine being built there in the period of 114 – 136 AD.</li><li>Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Agape Mannar.</li></ul> |

<ul><li>Early breakfast at the hotel.<br></li><li>Transfer to the naval base to take the boat to Adams’ Bridge national park for bird watching and explore islets of Adam’s bridge</li><li>The Indian epic Ramayana speaks of a bridge, Setubandhanam, a bridge over the ocean connecting India with Sri Lanka. Today it is called Adam’s Bridge and there are 16 islets of 8 belonging to Sri Lanka. Due to the shallowness of the sea in the area, the maritime biodiversity is very high and marine mammals such as Dolphins, Whales, and Dugong can be seen in this area and the diversity of fish is also very high therefore the area was declared as a Marine national park and the second islet can be visited. </li><li>Afternoon try to get some experience on Kitesurfing at Talaimannar beach</li><li>Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Agape Mannar.</li></ul> |

It is about 30 min ferry boat ride to the island. Due to the Nagadeepa Buddhist temple and Nagapooshani Amman kovil, this island is the most important place for both Buddhists and Hindus. During a ceremony time in the Hindu temple, you can have lunch with the devotees.</li><li>Afternoon you can visit important places of Keerimalai Pond, Nilavarai well, and Kantarodai Buddhist stupas and try to explore Palmyra tree products common only in the Jaffna peninsula.</li><li>Dinner and overnight stay at The Thinnai, Jaffna</li></ul> |

DAY - 6 (Jaffna - Delft - Jaffna) |

<ul><li>Breakfast at the hotel<br></li><li>Transfer you to Kurikkaduwan Jetty, one hour drive from the hotel where the ferry service starts to Delft Island. </li><li>Delft Island is about 35 Km away from Jaffna mainland. The whole island was based on coral and limestone. The roots of Portuguese and Dutch occupancy on the island are more prominent. The Fort, Hospital, Castle, Horse breeding centre, and Pigeon houses with a stone cote are among the archaeological remains of the colonial period. </li><li>The ancient Buddhist ruins can also be seen on the island. Three inscriptions belonging to the 1st and 2nd centuries and the 14th and 15th centuries are being discovered recently.</li><li> There are about 450 wild ponies, believed to descend from horses kept on the island from the time of Portuguese occupancy are significant on the island. </li><li>The Van was arranged at the island for an Island tour. Picnic lunch will be served. The return ferry started at 2.30 pm from the island.</li><li>Overnight dinner and stay at The Thinnai, Jaffna.</li></ul> |

Approximately 4 and a half hours’ drive, if you drive directly</li><li>En-route visit Pulmoddai beach, Arisimale beach, Girihadu seya, Vatadage, Thiriyaya.</li><li>Pulmoddai beach is totally different from other beaches in Sri Lanka. The sand on the beach is totally black in colour. That is due to minerals of ilmenite, Magnetite and Rootile deposited on the beach. Those minerals are separated and exported by the nearby factory. There is damaged jetty also can be seen in Pulmoddai. That was used to board ships that came to load the minerals. However, during the ethnic conflict one ship was sunk by the attack, and the jetty was damaged in 1997.</li><li>According to legend, during Lord Buddha’s time, 2 seafaring merchants called Thapassu and Bhalluka left India in their ship full of rice to be sold in Sri Lanka. They got the hair relic of Lord Buddha with them. A cyclone was hit the ship and drifted towards Pulmoddai. It was hit a rock and drifted to the beach and rice has mixed with the sand. That’s how this beach gets its’ name. The merchants were survived and came into the island through “Yan Oya”. They built the “Girihadu saya” near Thiriyaya enshrining the hair relics of the Lord Buddha given by himself.</li><li>Dinner and overnight stay at Anilana Nilaveli</li></ul> |
