Approximately one hour’ drive.</li><li>Ruins of the 12th century AD at the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the Cultural World Heritage Site, will be explored by cycling inside the site.</li><li>Afternoon elephant-watching safari in one of the national parks (Minneriya, Kaudulla, or Hurulu Eco Park), depending on the highest available elephant gathering at the time of travel. Approximately two and a half hours’ drive.</li><li>En-route, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.</li><li>Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla) is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. In the first century BC, King Valagambahu built it. The major attractions are spread over five caves, the ceiling of which is one large sweep of colourful paintings depicting Buddhist traditions and tales of the Buddha’s previous birth.
