63 32 25 Rumassala, Ramayana Rumassala, Ramayana <ul>Rumassala, also known as “Buono Vista” lies on a rocky outcrop between the Galle harbour and Unawatuna beach. Rumassala forest patch is a wildlife sanctuary and approximately 150 species of medicinal herbs can be found. At the top of the Rumassala hillock, you will be able to witness panoramic views of Galle Fort and the surrounding landscapes that you should never miss.</br> <br>Legendary Rumassala was in the epic Indian poem, Ramayana. During the battle between the Indian king Rama and Sri Lanka King Ravana, Rama’s brother, Lakshman was wounded. The monkey god “Hanuman”, was sent to the Himalayas to find some special medicinal herbs. But Hanuman forgot which herbs he needed and in desperation, he took a chunk of the mountains and twisted in his tail come back. On his way back he dropped a piece of it at Unawatuna forming this hillock.
