The establishment and initial growth of Colombo was done firstly by the Portuguese as a fort then by the Dutch and the British as a garden city and had little influence from indigenous people. Colombo was converted as a capital by the colonizers due to its natural harbour. There were a lot of colonial architecturally designed buildings, Churches, and Parks that can be seen in Colombo.
