<ul>Surfing, windsurfing, Water-skiing, and Kitesurfing are being thrilling experiences in Sri Lanka if your dream is dashing into the tropical blue water in the Indian Ocean. Due to the monsoon that works on opposite coasts during the year, Sri Lanka has provided year-round opportunities for those water sports.<br>
<br>Arugam Bay on the north coast has ranked among the top 10 surfing destinations in the world. On the southwest coast, Hikkaduwa is the best surf destination. Weligama, Mirissa, and Matara are other surfing points that offer some of the best waves on the south coast.<br>
<br>The best location for windsurfing and water-skiing is Bentota on the west coast. The waves, the surf, blue waters, and the sandy beach harbors Bentota as a windsurfer’s paradise. Hikkaduwa, Midigama, Polhena, and Tangalle Beaches on the south-west coast and lagoons in Kalutara and Negombo and the Blogoda Lake and Nilaveli and Uppuveli beaches in Trincomalee on the east coast are the best popular windsurfing and water-skiing destinations.<br>
<br>Kalpitiya and kitesurfing go together because it is one of the best locations for Kite surfing in the world. There is an average wind of 18 – 20 knots during the summer from May to October. In the winter from December to March, there is an afternoon wind that favours the perfect kite surfing experience. Mannar also becomes popular for kite surfing.</ul> |
