It is a rock temple with 7 caves in different altitudes up to 206 m. This was built in the 3rd century AD and the present Buddha images and paintings were belong to the Kandyan Period. It provides shelter, food, and security until the elephants are big and strong enough to be released back to the wilderness to start their normal life.</br> <br>Milk feeding for the little calves is a fascinating scene to watch.
