MOST STRIKING FEATURES

Sigiriya is the best-preserved city centre in Asia. At the brief height of its glory, not more than 18 years, from 477 to 495 AD by King Kasyapa, it was one of the loveliest cities to have graced the country.
British science fiction writer and futurist, Sir Arthur C. Clark mooted the idea that Sigiriya was no mere fortress of gloomy and forbidding, it should be qualified to be the eighth wonder of the world, ranked closely with the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal.
