• At the arrival lounge of Colombo Airport, you will be received by your chauffeur guide who will take care of you for the next 16 Days and transfer you to Kuruwita – approximately 2 hours’ drive.
  
• Check in to the hotel and relax for a few hours.
• Around 11 am start a hike to Batadombalena cave. It is an hours’ hike up a jungle-covered mountain from Kuruwita which has yielded the evidence (at 37,000BP) of an anatomically modern man in Sri Lanka referred to as “Balangoda Man”. The rock caves were provided with the basic architectural components of shelter, protective places, and solid bases, for primitive people who are looking for protection from natural threats of rain, wind, and wild beasts. You will be able to identify how present architectural values related to the cave shelters.

• Ratnapura is world-renowned for Gems. You will be able to see the traditional manual process of gem mining in a gem pit. 
• The Kalutara stupa with its entirely hollow interior at Gangatilaka Vihara is the only one of its kind in the world, built-in 1960s in the ground where the Portuguese built a fort. The vast echoing interior was decorated with the 74 murals depicting various scenes from the Buddhist Jataka stories (early lives of Load Buddha)
• Richmond Castle located near the palatota area is an Edwardian mansion, built-in in 1896 a fine country house in a 42-acre fruit garden estate.

• The country house of Lunuganga estate belonged to renounced architecture, late Geoffrey Bawa now maintain by the Geoffrey Bawa trust is a fascinating display of Bawa’s architectural vision. The estate was a cinnamon garden during the Dutch period and a rubber plantation in the British period. Geoffrey Bawa brought this 15 acres of land in 1949 and developed it as a tropical version of the European renaissance garden. Bawa was cremated and ashes were buried there.

• The Portuguese and the Dutch use Galle as the main seaport on the island. A lot of historical, archaeological, and architectural colonial remains are there in Galle. Of which the Galle Fort is main and the best. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and Asia's largest remaining fortress built by European occupiers. Even today the colonial-era buildings inside the fort, function as villas, antique shops, cafes, and restaurants without changing their old fashion. The Dutch Reformed Church also known as “Groote Kerk”, inside the Galle fort built in the 18th century is another fascinating architectural design of the Dutch period.

• Visit Mulkirigala Raja Maha Viharaya 22Km away from Dickwella is a Rock Temple where there are 7 cave temples situated in different altitudes up to 206m. This was built in the 3rd century AD and the present Buddha Images and Paintings were belongs to the Kandyan Period. This is a classic example of the architectural conversion of rock caves to a cave monastery and a temple.

• Church of the Ascension locally known as “gal palliya” was built in 1909, is a true example of British Gothic architecture in Sri Lanka. Due to its’ location, you will be able to see the entire area of Bandarawela. And the Nazareth Chapel of the Good Shepherd Convent was an early architectural work done by Geoffrey Bawa in 1961.

• After that, start the trek through the Thangamalai Sanctuary to Idalgashinna railway station
